Ethiopian Cross

To encourage children to concretely recognize the global spread the of people of God, place this cross in your home or atrium.

We offer this cross in three sizes (small, medium, large) and two materials (acrylic, birch).  Each cross comes with a stand.

One of the first known uses of the cross as a symbol for Christianity is found in Ethiopia (330CE). This stylized Coptic cross is based off of a traditional Ethiopian design.  Coptic crosses are highly symbolic:

Symbols:
The cross' quadrants are all of equal length.
The Trinity is represented on the three upward and outward points.
The interwoven patterns represent life eternal.
12 circle/rounded shapes to represent the 12 apostles sharing the gospel.
The elaborate latticework represents everlasting life.
Historically these crosses were placed on the top of a staff to lead processions or hand-held for blessings.
