Map Cabinet: 1 Puzzle Map + 3 Pin Maps + Pin Drawer with Pins (Level 2 - Options for Level 3)

These pin maps are designed to pique the younger elementary child’s love for facts and story. Kinesthetic map work allows for children to work individually or in small groups to concretize places discovered in the examination of the life of Jesus.

Pin maps provide wonderful on ramps for children who enjoy finite, concrete tasks; want to work with other students in a non-competitive way; or need a work that is less reading heavy.

The map cabinet is designed to sit on a 12 inch deep shelf and be self contained.

The maps arrive ASSEMBLED but NOT PAINTED. This material arrives to you without paint. Flags and cut labels are in their nine labeled metal boxes. A master list is provided to make assembly easier. For land and water forms, if a different name is currently used, that is included in the kit. You choose if you would like to add it to the reverse side of the flag.

This material is designed to be use in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 2 Atrium. To use this material effectively, you must be trained as a level 2 catechist. No lesson instructions are provided.

Drawer 1 - Advanced Puzzle Map
This puzzle map adds more detail to the Level 1 map. The boundaries are in sharper detail and offer the child the ability to see the first century boundaries more fully.

Drawer 2 - The Social and Political Regions plus the Three Cities
This map drawer begins with the essential three cities: Nazareth, Bethlehem, and Jerusalem. The major Roman roads help the child imagine the travels of Jesus.

Drawer 3 - The Land and Water Forms
This map allows the child to place the rift valley into context and imagine traveling around the terrain. Many important moments in Jesus' ministry occur on mountains, on the banks of waterways, and in the desert.

Drawer 4 - Principal Cities
By showing the places Jesus visited in relationship with each other, the child begins to realize how close or far trips could be. When Jesus is on the road to Emmaus, the child can see the Roman road and the relationship between Emmaus and Jerusalem.

Drawer 5 - Pins
This drawer houses three boxes and your reference books for each location (not included). Each pin box comes with Montessori color coded flag pins (blue - water, yellow - land forms, white - countries, green - regions, red - cities) and the labels ready for you to adhere.

Paper control map is included.

Note:
All land and water margins, place locations and regional boundaries are based off of current archaeology and the consensus of historians. They differ slightly from the historic CGS maps.

Materials:
Sustainable sourced renewable wood. Because we use wood, all pieces are unique and will vary slightly. There will be a faint smell of burning when you open the box. This will dissipate.
